About The 800

“The 800” is a well known and distinctive downtown Louisville landmark. Named for its address at 800 Fourth Street, the 29-story, 290 foot high structure was begun in 1961 and completed in 1963. It was Louisville’s tallest building until completion of the PNC tower in 1971. The 800 offers 246 apartment units on its upper 28 floors. The 800 Building is in a true Class A location, within walking or biking distance of Louisville’s CBD, the downtown’s most popular entertainment and dining destinations, and the city’s many museums and other cultural centers. The beautiful Ohio Riverfront, one of Louisville’s biggest recreational attractions, is within a few blocks. The 800 is also near several downtown colleges and universities, including 1,700-student Spalding University (virtually next door to the 800) and 22,000-student University of Louisville (less than two miles away).
